I am trying to install syslog-ng 3.0.2 from the source code in a local directory (/home/rahulg/usr). I am able to run ./configure well but the following error occurs while doing make .

/ld: cannot find -lglib-2.0
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[5]: *** [syslog-ng] Error 1

The options passed by me while configuring syslog-ng are

                --libdir=/usr/local/lib \
                --libexecdir=usr/local/lib \
                --prefix=/usr \
                --exec-prefix=/usr \
                --bindir=/usr/bin \
                --sbindir=/usr/sbin \
                --libexecdir=/usr/lib \
                --sysconfdir=/etc \
                --datadir=/usr/share \
                --localstatedir=/var \
                --mandir=/usr/man \
                --enable-dynamic-linking \
                --infodir=/usr/info \
                --with-libnet=no\

The environment variables set by me are
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:/usr/local/lib/glib-2.0
    PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig

Could you help in resolving this issue

What OS are you using?  Are you compiling a root or a different user?
