I tried to install Syslog-ng RPM to /usr/local/

    rpm -i syslog-ng-client-3.0.3-1.rhel5.i386.rpm --prefix=/usr/local

The above command does not work, so I tried:

    rpm -i syslog-ng-client-3.0.3-1.rhel5.i386.rpm --relocate=/usr/local

All was installed to /usr/local except the "var" directory was still deployed to /opt/

Thanks for any help.

I'll admit I am not an RPM guru, but this page: http://www.nordugrid.org/documents/rpm_for_everybody.html has some good info on using the relocate option.
