can I filter on text not covered in the macros?

can I filter on text not covered in the macros?
Is it possible to chop up the msg text and put it into fields in MySQL that are not covered by the default set of macros? I would like to filter the msg text for some specific things like delay=foo and drop that into a field in the db called delay.
