SYSLOG Graphical reporting tools

Are there any good  relatively  innexpensive  tools  for graphical reporting built on top  of SySLOG. i am looking for  a  graphical reporting package that can take sySLOG log files and display various reports from them graphically. should also have the ability to generate custom reports. Please advise.

Thanks

SYSLOG Graphical reporting tools

I remember someone saying that webtrends could work with syslog log files.  Otherwise, there are some open source packages like logtools and a few others that may be what you need.  Go to freshmeat.net and search for 'syslog report' and see what there is.

SYSLOG Graphical reporting tools

I believe some of the commercial syslog packages will do this.  most of the utilities here: http://www.syslog.org/Web_Links+index-req-viewlink-cid-10.phtml have graphing capability.  I can't speak to whether or not they are inexpensive, though.

Another option is to use something like syslog-summary: http://packages.debian.org/stable/admin/syslog-summary.html which will summarize logs and something like excel or crystal to generate reports.

Re: SYSLOG Graphical reporting tools

I came across this post and thought I add some information about new developments. I am a member of the phpLogCon team. PhpLogCon is a web-based syslog front-end which facilitates searching, analyzing and graphing syslog and other network event data. It is free open source software distributed under the GPLv3.

As it is actively being developed, we would appreciate feedback on this tool as well as suggestions for future development. The tool is available from the above-mentioned site, and an online demo can be found at http://demo.phplogcon.org.

I hope this is useful information. Feedback on the project is deeply appreciated.
