log rotation for java program log

When we use logadm to rotate a log file, we restart the syslog by using kill -HUP 'cat /var/run/syslog'. But I want to rotate a log file which is written by a java program (gigaspaces). How can I use logadm to rotate log file produced by gigaspaces or other java program? is there any other log rotation utility for it?

Thanks

Re: log rotation for java program log

I don't know the java program, but the key point is that the writer must close the file. So I would check if the java program has a method (signal) that makes it close its files. If that does not exist, I guess there is no other way than to restart the program.
